Monthly Cleaning Tips
This month's expanded list of cleaning how-tos was inspired by some of your StainArt photos.
Sara writes: I have 2 little toddlers, so I thought I would be taking a picture of one of their things today for my free giveaway stain devil. Well, not when I had mommy-brain, and wore my brand new dress on SPAGHETTI night! So there it is! Help save my dress!
We hope you requested Stain Devils #2! We know that some of you will be trying these for the first time, so here's how to use them:
 1. Before treating, remove the cause of the stain as much as possible.
2. Do not dilute. Place an absorbent white cloth beneath stain. (Stains don't disappear, you have to give 'em somewhere to go). Apply solution directly to stain. Tap stain with your finger, pushing it onto the cloth beneath it

Rinse with warm water.
Large stain? In shallow bowl, immerse stained area in solution. Soak for 10-15 minutes. Gently rub fabric together and rinse with warm water. Repeat steps with fresh solution and longer soaking time, if necessary.
Carpet stain? Stain Devils have not been tested for use on carpeting. However, we have had many consumers use them on their carpeting with great success. Doing so is at your own discretion. But speaking of carpet stains...

 Treat the red wine stain with white wine! Pour white wine over the stain and blot up the liquid, very gently, with a thick towel. (Do not rub!) Then, remove the white wine with your favorite carpet cleaner, such as the new Carbona 2-in-1 Oxy-Powered Steam Carpet Cleaner.
Ruth writes:There are no worse stains than from a muddy game of soccer! :)
 Don't put shin guards in the washer (can cause scratches)! Instead, put guards in sink. Put a heavy object, such as a pan, over them to keep them from floating. Then, lightly add a combination of mild detergent and baking soda to the pan. Fill pan with hot water, until the water (and cleaning combo) spils over the pan. Soak for 15 minutes, then pour the contents of the pan into the sink so that guards float up for easy removal. Rinse.
Dispensing with the club soda myth: Out for lunch and dropped oily salad dressing on your shirt? Think about how oil and water don't mix and ask for hot cup of water, not club soda! (The "bubbles" in club soda have no effect on the stain.) Instead, the hotter the water and the faster the stain is treated, the better the stain can be removed. Place a napkin beneath and dab (don't rub!) the stain until you get home, then remove with proper product. |
